Relationships

It's crazy what people call love these days. We really and truly don't know what that is and then fall victim of this confusion. When God tells us not to do things, He truly means it for our own good. I'd never realized how everything can be a distraction from the truth. Love is a deep spiritual and emotional connection that needs to be carefully developed and cared for in order for growth. Please don't rush into the making of this connection. Let God lead you. I was watching a sermon on relationships and the preacher said that you should first develop a relationship with God, then He will provide you with whomever or whatever you need. Adam wasn't immediately given Eve, he spent time with God and developed a close relationship. Thinking about that, I doubt that Adam was asking God every day, "Hey God, this has been great and all, but can you give me someone else with whom I can spend my time with now?". The pastor was saying that the devil is also attacking us through relationships. We choose the wrong ones and end of becoming damaged; this damage ruins us and brings us further from God. When we feel emotional ties, we are more likely to compromise where we shouldn't. The problem I had never considered is the difference between dating guys within and without faith isn't the guy but his underlying morals. Even if he doesn't follow it, a guy raised in the church knows and understands what should and shouldn't be done. Those outside of it have no clue and can't even conceptualize why we would believe some things. It's hard to explain to someone who grew up without Christ what grace is, that God loves you and why we should love him, things that most Christians consider basic. Those things that seem so small and we brush under the cover actually make a difference in the end. So we are forced to make a compromise between who we are and who we need to be in order to maintain the relationship. Sadly, we usually will compromise. When you think you've found someone that just makes you happy, you want to keep that person. Letting go isn't easy, but I promise, although I don't know who or what, I know that God has something in store for me, and whoever else is going through a situation. If anyone's interested in hearing more about the sermon, I've provided a link :)
